The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the national park system for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. The Park Service cooperates with partners to extend the benefits of natural and cultural resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and the world.
Public Law 95-344 (1978) creating the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, states, "The Congress finds the natural, scenic, recreational, historic, and other values of a forty-eight-mile segment of the Chattahoochee River and certain adjoining lands in the State of Georgia from Buford Dam downstream to Peachtree Creek are of special national significance, and that such values should be preserved and protected from developments and uses which would substantially impair or destroy them. The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper is a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization committed to the restoration and protection of the Chattahoochee River, its tributaries, and watershed. Founded in 1994, Riverkeeper has 4,500 members throughout the Chattahoochee River watershed, and uses advocacy, education, research, communication, cooperation, monitoring and legal actions to achieve its mission. Cobb County Water System: The Water System as an agency of Cobb County Government is a utility operation responsible for water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, and stormwater management.
City of Roswell, GA: Water Utility is proud to serve approximately 5,600 customers. The City operates the Roswell Water Treatment Plant, which is capable of producing 3.3 million gallons of water per day and maintains 89 miles of distribution waterline mains in order to get the highest quality water delivered to the customer.
The Chattahoochee Parks Conservancy(CPC) is the official friends group for the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA), a series of fifteen park units along 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River in metro Atlanta.
