Subject:  Redelegation of Authorities

1.  Purpose.  This Instructional Memorandum redelegates: (1) authorities to the Regional Executives which were previously delegated to the Regional Directors; and (2) redelegates some authorities which were previously delegated to the Regional Executives to the Science Center Directors.  Also, in a few instances, delegations are revised so that delegations to Headquarters Office Chiefs and to Science Center Directors are synonymous.  Appendix A lists the redelegations and also provides references for information regarding the authorities.  The redelegation of authority to approve research or interpretative information products that contain new interpretive materials (Survey Manual Chapter 205.18, Authority to Approve Information Products) will be issued in a future Instructional Memorandum.
