USGS Scientist Emeritus Program: 2008 Scientist Emeritus Award Recipients

To: Geology Discipline Staff

From: Tim Miller, Acting Associate Director for Geology
Linda Gundersen, Chief Scientist for Geology

Subject: Scientist Emeritus Award Recipients

It is a pleasure to announce the most recent recipients of the Geology Scientist Emeritus Awards. These awards highlight some of the outstanding contributions of the discipline’s Scientists Emeriti. A panel consisting of Team Chief Scientists, a Regional Geology Science Coordinator, a Program representative, and the Scientist Emeritus coordinator reviewed all of the outstanding nominations and made the final recommendations for the awards.

Please join us in extending congratulations to these outstanding and dedicated scientists. The USGS is very fortunate to continue to benefit from their efforts. We thank all who submitted the nominations, the panel members for their thoughtful recommendations, and all of our Scientists Emeriti for their continued dedication.

The awards will be presented at ceremonies that will be held in Menlo Park, Denver, and Reston in the next few weeks. Please stay tuned to find out where and when they will occur.
