Course title: Water Quality Instrumentation: Operation, Calibration, and Maintenance
Description: This Course is intended for Hydrographers who work directly with water quality (QW) instruments. The theory and background of most QW parameters will be discussed briefly, with most of the time devoted to hands-on practice. It will concentrate on the “big five” water quality parameters: Water Temperature; Conductivity/Specific Conductance; pH; Dissolved Oxygen; and Turbidity.

Objectives: This training has been developed for USGS employee use, but students from other agencies are accepted on a case-by-case basis. The course should instill the knowledge, techniques, & tools necessary to properly maintain QW instruments and to obtain good, well-documented QW data.

Target Audiece: Hydrologists & Hydrotechs who are/will be involved with collection of QW field data and/or the operation, maintenance, & calibration of QW instruments will benefit from this course.
