Course title: Safety: USGS Fall Protection for Authorized Persons
Description: This Fall Protection course was developed to meet all OSHA and State requirements for a Authorized Person certification according to ANSI Z359.2. This course uses theoretical classroom sessions and practical hands-on exercises to increase participants knowledge of fall protection and confidence in the use of fall protection equipment. Climbers participate in exercises that include the use of typical USGS structures and performance of tasks where fall hazards are present.
USGS Authorized person training includes: fall hazard recognition; fall hazard elimination and control methods; applicable fall protection regulations and standards; how to use written fall protection procedures; inspection of equipment components and systems before use; and fall protection rescue procedures. Authorized persons will demonstrate their working knowledge of personal fall arrest equipment and rescue procedures through a practical hands-on demonstration of skill.
