Description: PREVIOUSLY WAS NAMED COURSE CODE USGS-SAF-ILT-007. The USGS 24-hour Basic Firearms Safety Course is oriented towards the defensive use of firearms against dangerous wild animals and emphasizes firearm safety, and safe and effective firearms handling. Participants will be taught to shoot effectively with various types of firearms. This course provides a basis for understanding and deciding which type of firearm is best for them.
To teach basic firearms safety to scientists traveling in remote areas where they might need to use a firearm to protect themselves or their team from an attack by a wild animal.
Target Audience:
Any USGS Employee, especially those working in remote areas.
