Course Description:

The course includes various video demonstrations, assessments, and more. This course is one of four modules. All 4 modules need to be taken to complete the course.


The student will be introduced to: State, USGS, and DOI policies and regulations for boat operation, boat orientation, required and recommended equipment, boat maintenance, navigation rules, aids to navigation and marlinspike seamanship, boat trailering, emergency procedures, using fire suppression and VDSs, towing, anchoring and beaching, close quarters boat handling, recreational boating and other water activities, identifying aquatic nuisance species, and at speed maneuvering.

Targeted Audience:

DOI and USGS staff, students, partners, and volunteers who operate a motorboat for completing work assignments.
