Surface-Water Rating Curve Analysis

Course code: USGS-OED-SW1182
Course title: Surface-Water Rating Curve Analysis
Description: This class will provide instruction on the development, computation, and use of simple stage-discharge ratings. Emphasis will be on hands-on exercises with minimal lecture. Material will include use of theoretical ratings, computation and use of single and multiple offsets, rating development, rating extensions, and computation and distribution of shifts using stage-shifting techniques. The latest version of GRSAT (Graphical Rating and Shift Application tool) will be introduced and used to demonstrate proper development and interpretation of rating curve and shift diagrams.
The course objective is to provide a sufficient conceptual background and workshop-oriented problem- solving to afford attendees with the necessary skills to develop and analyze stage discharge rating curves and variable shifting control diagrams required in the computation of basic surface water flow records.
