Course title: Field Water-Quality Methods for Groundwater and Surface-Water
Description: This 2-week course is designed to introduce the employee to U.S. Geological Survey methodologies for (1) collecting and processing samples of ground and surface-water, for water-quality analyses and (2) completing common field water-quality measurements. Sample-collection and field-handling techniques for trace elements, organics, nutrients, major ions, and microorganisms will be described. The theory, methodology, and equipment used to measure water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, alkalinity, and selected microorganisms will be covered.
This course may be offered again during the summer if the first offering is fully subscribed.

Target Audience:

The course is intended for all personnel involved in the collection & processing of water-quality samples. Other employees may attend the course depending upon their individual training needs.Two all-day field trips, requiring hands-on field work are required components of this class.
