Falls are one of the leading causes of occupational fatalities. In fact, it is the number one cause of death in construction. There are so many different types of work and so many different kinds of fall hazards that it is not possible to organize fall protection into a neat set of rules that fit all situations. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has placed rules for fall protection in several different subparts, depending primarily on the nature of the work. In this course, we will describe methods of providing fall protection and more specifically, personal fall arrest systems.
