The Geospatial Multi-Agency Coordination Group or GeoMAC, is an internet-based mapping application that displays interactive maps of current fire locations and perimeters in the conterminous 48 States and Alaska.
The following information can be found on the GeoMAC application: Perimeter data gathered from the incident -- this information is gathered daily if the incident personnel has created and made available the perimeter
The perimeters are updated in GeoMAC when the personnel on the fire create and make available a new perimeter. Once the perimeter is made available, the perimeter is downloaded, quality checked and loaded into the database.
GeoMAC only displays perimeter data as they are submitted by field offices. Since data are not received for all fires, you may not be able to view perimeters for every fire. Learn more:
The capability to access the perimeter data is located under the “Services and Data” tab on the GeoMAC front page. Learn more:
The file from NIFC is downloaded every morning starting at 6:30am MST/MDT. A check for a newer file is done every hour until 10:30am MST/MDT. Learn more:
