Historical Topographic Maps FAQs - 13 Found
About 179,000 map sheets have been scanned and published, but we estimate that 10,000 to 20,000 more maps exist. Several thousand have been scanned and are being processed to products as time permits. Additional maps almost certainly remain to be found, and it will be difficult to say when the set of scanned maps is complete.
The Historical Topographic Map Collection project includes only standard topographic quadrangle maps with scales from 1:10,000 to 1:250,000, which is a subset of the total domain of USGS maps.
See this FAQ for information on finding and downloading USGS topographic quadrangle maps.
